I enjoy driving and wanted to sacrifice as little as possible in that area when upgrading my comfort and utility. I&#8217;d say I succeeded.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a local 1\/8th-mile dragstrip by  my house run by <a href=\"http:\/\/racelegal.com\" target=\"_blank\">Race Legal<\/a>. I&#8217;ve taken my STi there a few times, and most recently had been running in the area of 9.1s.  I took my new car there to compare and I&#8217;m glad to say that I haven&#8217;t given up much in the way of acceleration.  The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dpbolvw.net\/click-2782346-10364156\" onmouseout=\"window.status=' ';return true;\" onmouseover=\"window.status='http:\/\/www.edmunds.com';return true;\" target=\"_blank\">Audi<\/a> made 9.6-second runs all night long, with 2.2-second 60&#8242; times. That&#8217;s only 0.6 seconds slower than the STi, which has a manual transmission which allowed for <em>nasssty<\/em> AWD clutch-drop launches.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dpbolvw.net\/click-2782346-10364156\" onmouseout=\"window.status=' ';return true;\" onmouseover=\"window.status='http:\/\/www.edmunds.com';return true;\" target=\"_blank\">Audi<\/a>Tiptronic automagic transmission  was both a blessing and a curse, in that my launches weren&#8217;t as beastly as in the manual-transmission STi, but post-launch I could virtually fall asleep and run extremely consistent times. In bracket drag racing, consistency is what really matters (not that I&#8217;m going to compete in that, I&#8217;m just sayin&#8217;).<\/p>\n<p>In the end, I&#8217;m very pleased with my purchase decision, as the Audi has been doing its primary job of commuting and short road tripping <strong>much<\/strong> better than the old Subaru.
